Why Your Skincare Regime May Not Be Working and Why I Do What I Do

People often ask me how I got into the world of skincare and why I do what I do. 

Simply put, I LOVE feeling and looking healthy and spent many years figuring out what brought me closer to health and what moved me away from health. By the time I figured out the 'secret ingredients' to good health, my passion had sky rocketed and I knew it was knowledge I had to share with the world.

I'd always been interested in skin health specifically, but knew from very early on that skin health went so much deeper than 'face value' (get it - hehe). For a long time I thought that good skin came from choosing quality products and applying them religiously. And while this is partly true, my journey helped me see that skin health is so much more than that.

What I learned, is that we can use all the products we want, but unless our external and internal worlds are also harmonious and balanced, our skin will never look the way we want it to. No amount of moisturiser is going to gift the stressed out corporate gal the glowing skin she desires. And no amount of evening mask going to gift the guy who eats sugar on the daily acne free skin.

The principle I work by is - your skin is a reflection of your inner wellness.

Many people are surprised when I tell them that the gut issues they're experiencing could be the cause of their poor skin health. Or the fact that they work indoors all day and don't see any natural light. Or the fact that feeling on edge and anxious has become their 'norm'.

Yes, skin products can help in the short term, but unless these other things are addressed and resolved, topical treatment might only improve 1/3 of the issue and definitely only for a limited amount of time.

And that's why I do what I do, because I see so many people torn apart when their skin products don't heal their skin conditions, and I know how much this can impact things like self worth and self confidence.

  • Do you have balance in your life? How well are you taking care of yourself?
